Hello, Blog World. I’ve missed you.
These past few weeks, I took a break to collect my thoughts, invigorate my spirit, and find some direction with this blog here. Not to mention, a short trip to see my best friend Allison in New Orleans! I really needed to give myself a bit of TLC. Spring has felt a little overwhelming, if I’m being honest. But I’m back, and ready to look forward to the future.
That being said, because I have several trips set to take place over the next several months, I get to do one of my favorite things in the world: plan! I love browsing the internet and asking people I know for traveling recommendations, be that restaurants, neighborhoods, sites, the list goes on.
One of my favorite things to do is to follow a few blogs based in the places that I’ll be traveling – that way I feel like I’m getting an “insiders” edge to my visit. While there are always the “token” touristy places to visit in any given part of the world – everyone knows how these can get a bit exhausting (read: MADDENING). So instead, here is some insight into my vain attempt to always “travel like a local.”
Below are some of the blogs that I regularly follow that are centered around specific locations. Not all of these are travel blogs, but they are organized based around the city that their authors live in. Hit me up if you have any suggestions to add to the list – always looking for more travel inspiration!
Amsterdam: Queen of Jet Lags
Glasglow: Muted Mornings
Hong Kong: a pair & a spare
Nashville: A Beautiful Mess (also in Springfield, MO!)
Raleigh: The Fresh Exchange
Rural U.S.A.: my name is yeh
San Diego: Local Adventurer (currently, also Atlanta, LA, and Las Vegas)
Vancouver: Field & Forest
